Akron Foster Care Services by Ohio MENTOR

The caring staff in Ohio MENTOR’s Akron program provides foster care services to help children with trauma, behavioral health challenges and other needs. We are also able to support children with autism. 

Children and adolescents in our program live with foster parents who support them as they overcome the challenges they face. Our team of clinical coordinators, master’s level therapists, and other caring professionals tailors services to each child's unique needs to help them grow and thrive. Whatever challenge a child faces, we’re here to support them and their foster parent each step of the way.

Akron Foster Care Services: Helping Children Overcome Trauma

Our programs help children overcome challenges such as trauma so they can live the joyful lives they deserve. Our team of clinical coordinators, case managers, master’s level therapists, and other caring staff are experts at helping children with trauma develop the healing relationships and life skills they need to thrive. Services are tailored to each child’s needs and may include:

Ohio MENTOR has provided foster care services since 1983. Over the years, we have expanded to serve children in communities across the state. Our teams are made up of caring people who have dedicated their careers to helping children heal and thrive, including Licensed Social Workers, Clinical Counselors, and more.

Statistics About Foster Care

• • As of 2020, there were 214,421 licensed foster homes in the US.
• • Foster children come from all age groups, from infants to up to 20 years old.
• • Children stay in foster care for about 21 months, on average
• • 54,240 children were adopted from foster care in 2021. (National Council For Adoption) Of those, 55% were adopted by their foster parents. (CCAI)
• • Over 19,000 children aged out of foster care as recently as 2021. (Annie E. Casey Foundation)
